Home for the Holidays is an annual, city-wide open house that ushers in the holiday season in Melrose over two days. There is so much that happens throughout the weekend and details will be finalized in the weeks ahead. For now, here’s an overview of what takes place:

Friday Evening Festivities – Downtown Melrose (11/30):

Shop and Dine in Downtown Melrose! Restaurants and merchants welcome you to get your holiday shopping done early and some will have treats, snacks, specials and cool offers. Details to follow!

Around 5:45pm: Gather on the lawn of Melrose City Hall for holiday singing with a local musical group!

6:00pm – 6:15pm: Cheer and Sing as we light up the City Hall Christmas Tree (tree lights and labor donated by local business LCM PLUS). Then stroll down towards the YMCA to await Santa’s arrival in downtown.

Around 6:30pm: Santa Claus will arrive in downtown Melrose!

Saturday Fun – Throughout Melrose (12/1):

All day on Saturday the city will be full of sales, specials, The Nutcracker, tastings, shopping, craft fairs, special events, holiday treats, holiday activities and more that last throughout the weekend.

Special holiday trolleys will run from 10:00am – 2:00pm, carrying shoppers throughout the shopping districts, for free. Note: Although the trolleys only run for four hours, much of Melrose will be busy all day and into the evening with shopping, dining and special activities. Details will be posted in the weeks ahead including a complete schedule of everything happening during the weekend.
